What a year it’s been in room 10!
I have been blessed with such a wonderful class this year and feel very lucky to have had each and everyone of them.
I would like to thank you all of you for your continuous support over the year as well as the beautiful and very unnecessary gift that was presented to me yesterday afternoon- amazing!
I will be back in the grade 1 classroom again next year so I hope that all of the children make sure they come and say hello. However, in the mean time, I wish you all a very happy Christmas and all the very best for the New Year.
Have a wonderful break and I’ll look forward to seeing you around HPS in 2020.
A couple of activities saw the children in room 10 very engaged!
In pairs the children had to plan and design a Christmas Party for 10-12 guests! It involved planning a menu, designing an invitation and designing and making the games. This is the first day and as you can see from the pics below it had the children really thinking!
The children also met with their buddies today, finally! A very fun elf activity was completed and don’t worry, I’ll be sending them home tomorrow! Some pics…
Not long to go now.
As it’s going to be very hot tomorrow and Friday please ensure children have drink bottles and very light clothing- no long sleeve tops or long pants as it really is too hot for them!
As you may have noted, assembly will now be held first thing on Friday morning as opposed to the afternoon as it will be too hot for the children to go outside.
I’ll be sending portfolios home tomorrow and Thursday in case the children aren’t at school on Friday.
Welcome to the final week of room 10’s blog! This will be a short one (I’ll get on my Christmas cheer for later in the week!).
I still need a parent helper for the bus on Thursday if possible – please email me if you’re available.
Your children all met their new teacher for next year and by all reports it went well which is great.
Wednesday a reminder that we have the class party so please send food with the children in the morning- it will be very very hot on Wednesday so please keep this in mind.
Please email me as required..
Have a great week.
Happy Friday! One week to go!
A couple of things:
Next week is a busy but exciting week.
Monday- Meet the teacher. The children will meet their new class and teacher. This may be the weekend where you could have a chat about changes and how changes are the best things ever as they make us grow to be ever more resilient. It gives us an opportunity to adapt to new teachers and friends and find what makes those people smile. It’s an amazing life skill to develop especially as they will have multiple teachers every day in their high school years. Let them know that it may not be easy at first but they need to work hard at making new friends and getting used to new routines. They are more than ready for grade 2 and to show their new class what a kind, mindful, caring member of the class they are.
Wednesday– Class Party- this will be held after recess until lunch time. If all children can bring their foods in on Wednesday morning that would be great.
Thursday– Mr Jackson’s movie day- a great day out and I know all the children are looking forward to see Shaun the Sheep.
Friday- last day of term. Assembly will be held at 1pm and children then dismissed at 1.30pm.
Photos of Carols:
If anyone happened to take some pics of the carols night (in particular of the Grade 1 children), could you please email them to me as we are making a book for Mr Jackson for when he leaves.
That’s all for now.
Please let me know if any questions.
Just a quick one from me! I’m looking for a volunteer (with a working with children check) to come and help on the bus and at the cinema next Thursday for the movie day.
If you could email me tonight please as lists need to be finalised by tomorrow for buses.
As well, if your child isn’t coming to the movie next week I just need to let you know that there is no school program on this day as the whole school are involved in excursions on this day.
Please let me know if any problems.
I am sending home some information and a note with the food that your child has chosen to bring to our class party on Wednesday 18th December.
It will be held in the morning on that day so if you could please send your food in the morning of that day that would be great.
Please let me know if any questions.
Just a reminder that no nuts please.
I hope everyone has had a great week.
Reminders Week 10:
Carols Monday night- looking forward to seeing you all
A day in the life: Tuesday 10th December.
No homework now as we prepare for the completion on 2019. I would really appreciate any feedback you could give us on the spelling homework for this year so that we can make modifications for 2020.
We have found that the students are more willing to give new words a go and are knowing how to build new words. The students have enjoyed the choice of choosing their own words from the extensive list. A lot more unknown words are now decipherable!
That’s all from me for now.
Another busy week in room 10!
A visit by the Banyule dentist to start the week provided the children with some great tips for how to keep their teeth clean and healthy.
In Integrated studies the children had to make a new and improved chair using paper only! It was so wonderful to see how creative and innovative they’ve all become.
We also had lots of carols practice for next week, our usual reading and writing sessions as well a maths investigation task which kept them busy plotting data!
Next week (week 9):
Monday night- carols, hope to see you all there.
Wednesday at 3pm we are having the grade 1 book launch. Please come in and see the books the children have been working on this term. If you can’t make it then don’t worry, there will be lots of parents and teachers that can make sure they ask the children lots of questions, as well I’ll be sure to take some pics!
week 10: A day in the life- the children will spend the first 3 sessions of the day at some stage during that week in a grade 2 classroom so they get to experience a glimpse of the year to come.
Week 11: A busy week to finish off a wonderful year, we have meet the teacher, the class party and of course Mr Jackson’s movie day on the Thursday 19th December (please remember to consent and pay on compass).
I think that’s all for now however please don’t hesitate to let me know if any questions.
Have a nice weekend,
